Now if they just had someone that knew how to use it :) That lady got the new PC and I was able to install their old software on hers. As it turned out, they had another Win 7 PC still in that department. This year's license is around $100, and next year's is around $200. You'll be able to get security updates through the end of 2022. I also recommend buying an ESU license if this computer needs to be networked. If buying used/refurb, make sure to go with a business-grade machine (or a couple because spares are important) that has better quality hardware and will hopefully last longer than an Inspiron. I agree with literally everything in this reply. I have one client with a press brake that needed a network card it was $1000. The folks that make the CNC system are kind of like Apple they in that they abuse the customer. I have purchased old hardware from craigs list for clients of mine with CNC systems. The next time, it might not be possible to salvage without an upgrade. Then explain to your customer what it took to keep things going as they were. I think your best bet might be looking for an older Windows 7 PC, new or used, that will support the old software to get them running. They got around that by having a fire that burned all their equipment so the insurance money covered upgrades. I don't know how your machining equipment works, but the CNC gear I support uses control boards that, guess what, don't work well with virtual hardware. The problem you are going to find is that without driver support, it just may not be possible with a brand new PC. I support a cabinet shop and their CNC equipment has a ridiculous overhead for the most basic PC equipment. I understand about having to run an old OS to support crazy expensive software.
